Anchor Point

Welcome! I am Dr. Sam Lookatch, a licensed clinical psychologist with board certification in addiction psychology. I provide outpatient individual therapy, specializing in the treatment of substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders. My training and services extend to the treatment of anxiety, depression, trauma and couples therapy. I provide short-term evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE) for individuals presenting with trauma. My therapeutic approach is a blend of psychodynamic psychotherapy and cognitive behavioral approaches with specialized training in motivational interviewing and Integrated Behavioral Couple Therapy (IBCT). Additionally, I work with families related to addiction issues utilizing Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT).

I have a passion for helping people overcome barriers that are negatively impacting their functioning so they can live more meaningful, fulfilling lives. Before founding Anchor Point, I served as an Assistant Professor at Columbia University Medical Center, where I helped launch an outpatient program for individuals seeking substance use treatment.
